SAMAYA is the nominated vendor for USOF Pilot project on use of Renewable energy on USOF Sites & is partnering Reliance ADA Group & KEC International (RPG Group Co) on the USOF Project. Samaya in association with Reliance has commissioned two RET pilot (USOF) sites at Kerala & Assam using the state of art technologies including highest efficiency (over 19%) Solar Panels & Ni Cad Battery Banks.
Further, Samaya with KEC are going to commission the remaining two pilot sites at Meghalaya & Mizoram using Ni Cad Batteries in the high priority North East India.
USOF: Universal Service Obligation Fund is established by the Indian Telegraph (Amendment ) Act , 2003 in which 5% of the revenue of All the Indian Telecom Operators goes as License Fees ;yearly contribution made to this fund is about USD $2 to 3 billion. USOF has about 8000 towers & intends to add another 4000 towers in the second phase
